the 22nd of May 2008, Universal Wind Offshore AB received permission
according to the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone Act to
build and operate within the area of Stora
Middelgrund in Kattegatt a wind power farm consisting of
up to 108 wind turbines with the
necessary transformer stations and three wind
measurement masts. The total height
of the wind turbines may not exceed 200 meters
above sea level.
At the same time, the government gave permission to
Universal Wind Offshore AB according to the Continental Shelf
Act to install and maintain cables under
the sea bed both within the
wind power farm at Stora
Middelgrund and between the farm and the limit of
the territorial waters.
In June 2009,
Universal Wind Offshore Transmission AB (subsidiary to Universal Wind Offshore AB) received from
Energimarknadsinspektionen according to the Swedish Electricity Act, permission for the cable connection between the wind
farm Stora Middelgrund to the Swedish main grid through the station FT72 Breared in the municipality of Halmstad.
On the 8th of
September 2009, Universal Wind Offshore AB
received from theEnvironmental
Court according to the
Swedish Environmental Code (chapter 11) permission
for the necessary water operations in order place
to the cable in the sea bed in Kattegatt between
the Swedish territorial border and the Swedish
coast. This means that all the necessary
permissions to start building the project has been
received.
